Choose a Deployment
Choose MarcoPolo's hosted service or a Bring Your Own Cloud deployment for your environment.
Choose where MarcoPolo runs before configuring clients and data connections. This decision sets the service URL your users and applications connect to. Your integration choice then determines which identity makes requests and whether it uses MCP, the Python SDK, or REST.
Available options
| Option | Where MarcoPolo runs | Getting started |
|---|---|---|
| MarcoPolo hosted | MarcoPolo's hosted service at https://mcp.marcopolo.dev | Use the hosted URL in the getting started guide, then add your connections. |
| Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC) | Your AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure environment, or an on-premises environment such as VMware or OpenShift | Contact the MarcoPolo team to plan the deployment and obtain its service URL before configuring clients. |
BYOC is an available deployment option. The cloud and on-premises environments above are supported deployment targets; your team's requirements determine the deployment plan.
How to decide
- Start with the hosted service when you want to connect an assistant or evaluate MarcoPolo using the existing hosted URL.
- Choose BYOC when MarcoPolo needs to run in your organization's cloud account or on-premises environment. Discuss your infrastructure, network access to data sources, and operational requirements with the MarcoPolo team when planning the deployment.
Deployment location and application identity are separate choices. A personal user, a service account, or a user in a dedicated MarcoPolo namespace each has its own workspace and permissions. See Identity and Workspaces for how these boundaries fit together.
Next step
For the hosted service, use https://mcp.marcopolo.dev in the client guides. For BYOC, use the service URL provided for your deployment. Then choose an integration and connect your AI client or application.
